This new 117,800 SF (11,000 SM), 3-story middle school is comprised of 34 classrooms of various sizes, as well as a multipurpose room, a library, a gymnasium with adjoining lockers, a food service area along with administration, storage and support spaces. The project also includes a one-level underground parking structure with approximately 76 parking spaces. There is also a dedicated drop-off area at grade to accommodate up to six automobiles and two 48-passenger school buses. The basketball courts and some of the play areas are located on the roof.

The entire project is to be located above an existing MTA Metro Rail subway tunnel. Arquitectonica also designed a new mixed-use residential commercial building adjacent to the school.

This project represents the first true “urban transit village” in Los Angeles to successfully integrate a school, residential and commercial center on a single site all located on a major MTA mass transportation hub.
