Capital City Convention + Telecom Center

Jackson, Mississippi

Project Information

The Jackson Convention Center Complex was designed to interact with the Farish Street Historic District, and serve as a cornerstone complex for the city, stimulating revitalization of the downtown business district. The project consists of the 330,000 SF (30,650 SM) Capital City Convention Center and the 76,000 SF (7,060 SM) Mississippi Telecommunications Building, both designed by Arquitectonica.

The greatest challenge in creating these public buildings was to manage the process of designing iconic architecture for the city within a budget that could accommodate and highlight the client’s ambitious program desires. The project called for designing a complex whose architecture expressed the mission and functions of their use and was reflective of a progressive convention district.
