Conceived as a tower of glistening glass, the Exaltis Tower located in La Défense Paris, France defines the axis of Avenue Gambetta and replaces a grim, gray viaduct. The tower is flanked on one side by a landscaped plaza and on the other by a linear park. A monumental two-level lobby receives visitors and stretches the entire length of the building. Grand stairs connect the two levels establishing a sculptural presence. The lobby makes use of vivid material contrasts, creating a dynamic interior. The use of black granite tiles on the walls and floors combined with curvilinear paths of lightng intergrated into the ceilings and walls, flow throughout public spaces and main lines of circulation. The bold contrasts illuminate the area at night and is visible from the exterior of the building.
