Jorge Chavez International Airport Terminal Expansion
Jorge Chávez International is Peru’s main airport and serves 15.3 million passengers each year, making it the 7th busiest airport in South America. To handle the growing traffic and transform the facility into a modern international gateway, Lima Airport Partners implemented an ambitious capital improvement program, starting with this new passenger concourse and world-class retail plaza. Arquitectonica a new airport terminal leading to 21 gates and corresponding jetways, a hotel, a shopping plaza, airline lounges, baggage handling and pick up areas, and oversaw the renovation and upgrade of the existing terminal at the Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima. The project required the interaction of existing elements with new ones and the planning for a new public parking garage structure. The modernization and expansion of Jorge Chavez International Airport has made a very good impression having won First Place in South America in the ranking of the best airports in the world, according World Airport Awards 2005.
