Mangrove West Coast is a 1200-unit luxury condominium complex in three buildings sited around a lagoon, developed by the Shenzhen Sinolink Enterprises Co. Ltd. The client desired a luxury development that could be marketed through distinctive modern architecture that would take advantage of views of the golf course and the nearby recreational lagoon.

The design solution was to divide the units in a complex of three buildings with heights staggered from 10 to 31 stories. Views were preserved through floor to ceiling glass windows and see-through glass railings on the balconies. Every unit has a balcony and view. The buildings are arranged in a windmill composition strategically positioned at specific angles that maximize the views of the bay to the south and the golf course to the west. A man-made elliptical lagoon was created in the center and the buildings appear to swirl around it. Each of the building’s floor plates folds into two planes, further emphasizing the dynamics of movement and energy.
